Activate Your Gaydar for FOX's 'Straight' Starting in March, FOX will invite viewers to grab a seat on the couch, whip up some popcorn and tune into "Playing it Straight." But don't forget to adjust your gaydar, because this is a dating show with a sexually ambiguous twist.Premiering on Friday, March 14, "Playing it Straight" will pit one single woman, her libido and her Sexuality Spidey Senses against 14 bachelors who are either out to win her heart or to trick her. Daphne Brogdon ("The X Show") will host "Playing it Straight," which was shot at the Sizzling Saddles Ranch in Elko, Nev. The series will air on Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET as a lead-in to FOX's midseason dramedy "Wonderfalls."Jackie, a college student from Appleton, Wis., is surrounded by a batch of bucking bachelors. But out of the pool of 14 available suitors, only some will actually be available for her affections. Jackie and the show's viewers will know that some of these canoodling cowboys are straight men looking for love (and some prize money), but that some of the lassoing lovers are gay men, looking for lucre. She'll have have to rely on her first impressions as well as the usual assortment of group activities and one-on-one dates in order to make a final decision. If Jackie selects a straight beau, the couple will split a $1 million prize, but if she chooses a masquerading gay mate, he captures the prize alone. At the end of the day, the show's object isn't really for Jackie to find the man of her dreams, but for the young lady to show off her gaydar and for the gay contestants to show off how well they can pass for straight with money on the line. Will the gay contestants fool Jackie with their macho talk of football, auto parts and chasin' tail or will she see through their ribald romantic ruses?Jeremy Mills and Ciara Byrne executive produce for Lion Television.
